The List of Great Defenders:
The following is a list of groups of people who, like ourselves are mostly volunteers. These groups work tirelessly, couragously every day, every week to try to save as many horses before a slaughter truck reaches the lot. We greatly encourage you to donate directly to them - Tell them the Horse Defenders sent ya :)
- Angel Acres Horse Haven Rescue
This group works hard in erecting "Stop Slaughtering Us" Billboards across the nation. The website also has more information on horse slaughter. Visit their facebook page
- Horse Plus Humane Society
Horse Plus Humane Society is dedicated to preventing cruelty to horses, donkeys, ponies, mules, all other equine and other animals.
- The Animali Farm
This 501(c)3 non profit horse rescue in Santa Maria, CA primarily rescues horses from the Pregnant Mare Urine business(PMU)

- Rebels Equine Feedlot Sales
Helen Love, best way to conact is via email: email@example.com, rebelsequinefeedlotsales.org. This Washington based group of volunteers do not take any money, but lists horse off of the Zillah killpen on their website and networking websites. The volunteers help by frantically getting the word out about the horses on the lot thus saving many horses every week. Often the volunteers buy the horses themselves in order to get them off of the lot before the truck arrives. Visit their facebook page
- Another Sunrise Equine Rescue Network
Donna Yadeskie, best way to conact is via email: firstname.lastname@example.org. This group works a couple lots in Washington by helping individuals raise money to get horses off the lots before the slaughter truck comes. These voluteers may end up purchasing horses at the last second to save the horse. They will occur many expenses along they way: the cost of bail, transport, boarding fees, vet bills, etc. Then they will try to rehome the horses, often for much less that the costs they have paid out.
- Guardian Angels Horse Rescue
Angela Weissenberger, 509-380-3209. This Washington based group of volunteers do not take any money, but lists horse off of the Toppenish killpen on their website and networking websites.
- Misfit Acres Equine Rescue
306 831 996 5(c) 306 935 2210 (h), misfitacresequinerescuetraining.com, Based out of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada Self funded group that saves animals, incurs costs to save and rehab horses. They rehome horses often for less money than what they have paid out. Visit their facebook page

Also sharing sanctuary are Mustangs once rounded up on public wild land lands by the Bureau of Land Management. All Duchess equine residents are survivors of abuse, abandonment, or neglect."
